Driving… what is it about driving a car that us petrol heads enjoy so much? The feeling of being in control of a vehicle at speed…? Or is it the sensation of lateral g-force when you go around a bend? The feedback you get when you turn the steering wheel and feel the mechanical grip levels of a car’s tyres… The sheer speed of things when you put your foot down and experience yourself sinking back into the seat. The sound of the machine you’re driving as it climbs up the rev range… or one reason could be that specific piece of road you decide to drive on. It’s not often one gets handed the keys to a fully prepared drift car, let alone to specifically go sideways in it. Dylan Cothill is a brave man. We featured his fully imported S14 Silvia a few issues back before it had a full respray in black… I must say, I do prefer it in its new tuxedo. It’s a very stealthy look all in black, giving one the immediate impression it’s a weapon of some sort. The new ROTA Grids look great too, not that the old rims didn’t, but these just look better. Dylans done quite a bit since we last featured the car including a full motor rebuild to the SR20DET which see’s it being fully blue printed and the internals upgraded to Arias forged pistons, ACL bearings, Redline head gasket and it even has a reworked head. The Hi-Octane Festival of Drag Racing ended 2012 with a bang! Usually held on Boxing Day and called Fast, Furious and the Glorious, that event clearly had its glory days and it was time to move on, that’s when Speed & Sound stepped in. Now obviously when a big name like SNS comes onboard they bring other big names with them. [more]

I was invited to join the guys of Exclusively ///M on a night out for a bit of sheer driving pleasure and some fun before the festive season. It was a chance for the guys to get together and catch up, see what’s new and plan some things for the future. [more]

Honda’s tag line is “The power of dreams”… and in Arno De Beer’s case one of his dreams indeed came true when he acquired his 99 Honda Civic at the tender age of 18. It’s been 5 years now and Arno has been using his Civic as a daily, but a lot has transformed since his first acquisition of the car. [more]

The term "Initiated" sparks a fair amount of controversy, with many people asking what the term essentially means and how it applies to the local car scene with it having little or no relation to anything car related. The term "Initiated" has two recognised meanings, one of them being the cause to begin (process of action) with the other meaning being; to admit (someone) into a secret or obscure society or group, typically with a ritual. With the Easter installment of this event put on the back foot due to “un-raceable” weather, the December event was long awaited with plenty of eagerness from spectators and racers alike, myself included.
