Living The Young Racers Dream!!

Last night nine young “rainbow racers” aged between 9 and 14 slept soundly after returning from a trip of a lifetime to Holland.

Over the last two weeks the team has flown the South African colours at the new Junior TT Track at Assen. Here they became some of the first racers to ride the new track which was built specifically for the Honda NSF class. Troy Bayliss popped in to see our young champs and gave them some racing tips. The skills learned on short tracks like this will ensure that we will be doing lots more of the local NSF 100 racing on tracks like this in future.

Friday Sat, And Sunday were taken up by racing at the Berghem circuit where we were part of the Dutch organizers 25 anniversary celebrations. The racing was superb and the high standard achieved by our boys proves that we are grooming some of the best young racers in the world. On Saturday our boys Cameron, Anthony and Luyanda occupied all three podium places in the second final. Sundays racing saw the rain pour down, and two of our riders who have never ever ridden in the wet, finished in fourth and fifth places in the day’s second final race. Well done Luyanda, and Ndimiso. Tristan Bagley won the trophy for the most consistent rider of the weekend.
The second week saw team building and excitement as the young stars of tomorrow geared up for Saturdays Assen TT. In true Dutch fashion our team cycled 40km to and from the track to take part in the TT festivities. There were over 70 000 people at Fridays party in the town the place rocks!! Friday also saw the boys use their team livery to wangle themselves into the Repsol hospitality unit where they had their new kit signed by Casey and Dani. Many thanks to Brad Binder, who organized access for our youngsters, and parents.

Saturday saw us join 130 000 other people to watch our first Moto3 Race, it was indeed the best racing of the weekend and bodes well for a bright future. The second closest racing of the day was from the Redbull Rookies where the lead changes on every lap. Holland’s Scott Deroe, who is winning races in the Redbull Rookies and is currently in 3rd place in the championship, is a past winner of Holland’s NSF100 Series. Shows we are on the right track.

The South African Motorcycle Racing Academy would like to thank Carla And Arie Molenaar of Molenaar racing for all their help with turning our tour into a once in a lifetime event for our nine riders and their parents. The tour would also not have been possible without support from the following:

Portable Shade
Motorcycle Racing Club
Sports Car Club
Motorsport South Africa
Honda South Africa
Honda Netherlands
Molenaar Racing
Redstar Raceway
TRP Distributors
The South African Motorcycle Racing Academy
Northern Regions Racing.
