KILLARNEY: Wednesday 3rd October 6pm till
10pm including drifting and quarter mile.
Be at Killarney race track next Wednesday evening for your mid
week motorsport adrenalin rush. The third round of the Drift Africa
drivers search will take place on the Killarney oval from 6pm
and run through till about 9pm, this event is for drivers wanting
to score points in the Drift Africa championship for 2012.
Adding to the attraction on the evening will be a new concept
called “quarter mile”, this will be similar to Street2Strip
and run from 7pm till 9pm. After the open runs there will be elimination
runs until the fastest car of the evening is declared, as part
of this first time promotion the winner of this will get R2500
cash while other cash prizes will also be available to certain
vehicles, all of this is being supported and sponsored by Drift
Africa.
The last two rounds of the Drift Africa drivers search have seen
great improvements from existing drivers while some new drivers
have also joined recently. Standing top of the points log at the
moment is Jacques Lemmer with 30 points while Gianni Crowster
is following closely behind with 22 points. Other top drivers
to keep an eye out for include Shane Green (10 points) and Derrick
Engelbreght(8 Points). With 15 points up for a win the championship
is still wide open as a number of drivers can still be declared
the winner.
Entries for the drifters will take place on Tuesday evening at
the new pit facility from 7pm till 9pm. Entries for the “quarter
mile” will take place on Wednesday from 6pm till 8pm at
the main gate caravan for an additional R20 per driver.
Gates open at 5pm with action on the oval from 6pm while the main
straight will run from 7pm. All activities are scheduled to end
by no later than 10pm. Admission is R30 per adults while youngsters
under the age of 12 enter for free.
