KILLARNEY OPEN TRACK DAY 28 MARCH

So I missed out on the last track day that Nish covered back in January and after going through his footage, it really made me want to be at the next one. The 28th of March was a perfect sunny Saturday for taking your pride and joy around the track and I made sure I was there.


Every type of event see’s a different bunch of guys hanging out together. This was the track day bunch. We all love cars, but these guys love going around corners quickly. Track days are always a great place to hang out with likeminded petrol heads and share stories and the love for cars.


This day was no different. From 4x4 Nissan Navara’s, understeering Honda’s to race spec Porsche’s, they were all on track.


This was something really special and extremely rare. A Lotus 211, which some say is the ultimate track day toy!


Or is this the ultimate track day toy? Either way, they're both Lotus's.


Some use this time as practice for upcoming race days. Because you can never have enough track time!


While others, like Danie Van Niekerk, just use it to hoon… around every corner!


There were plenty of these on track.

I spotted a few newbie’s too. This was a brave female Subaru driver who seemed to be gutsy enough but was making some basic errors in the corners. Coasting into a corner and then releasing the clutch mid corner is never a good thing. At least she had an all wheel drive to save her.


Some only dare open the throttle once the car was pointing dead straight. The more track time you get the better you’ll become.


This is an absolutely gorgeous car, Rafique’s Opel Superboss. A South African legend being driven like it was meant to be. You don’t see a lot of these on the road anymore, let alone on the track. I hope to see more of this car soon Rafique.
