Club S2K aka the Honda S2000 club recently hosted a private top end drag racing event for their members and a few other invited clubs like the Type R Owners club and HAVOC, Honda Accord Vtec Owners Club. There were also a few Subaru’s and one or two other random cars present at the event.


When you mention “legal” top end racing in Cape Town, only one place comes to mind, Saldanha Airfield. It was a very familiar venue but the lack of thousands of people I’m used to at West Coast Racing events made for an interesting change.


It was so simple because there were no stands and fences etc, but so effective as we all went just to watch the racing. Two cars on a piece of road are all you need to have fun.


After a quick drivers briefing by the crew it was all systems go with a queue of cars ready and waiting to race.


Lee Boy was there with his mighty Type R, but traction problems saw him struggling to get off the line most of the time.


As with most clubs, real racing is always competitive, but forum racing is where it gets very heated. This was now the time and place to settle all scores as grudge matches were set up race after race. Who’s quicker? S2000 or Type R? Type R or Accord?


Some were proven right while others proven surprisingly wrong, but that’s racing. There are so many variables it’s not even worth getting into. At the end of the day it’s all about having friendly fun and enjoying each other’s cars. That’s what I went for!


I'm not a stance person but damn I have to admit that looks hot!
