The 7th Last Lion Lifestyle
event for 2015 kicked off to a great start at the Westin in CT.
The organizers Ish Kaskar & Junaid Hamid invited guests to
arrive from 9am, however by 8:45 the parking courtyard was already
bursting at its seams with Cape Town's finest supercars.
The line-up consisted of the top Italian, German & Japanese
marques with Ferrari's dominating the count. Out of the 70 cars
that attended, there were 11 Ferrari's, 7 Lamborghini's as well
as the rare & famous Liberty Walk Nissan GTR to name but a
few.
Due to the size of the event, traffic officials had to assist
in coordinating the flow of Supercars out of the Westin and onto
the N1 highway to ensure that the group remained together. This
300 million Rands worth of display in motion is something that
Cape Town motorists have never witnessed before!
Passengers in cars passing by on the N1 highway looked upon the
convoy in amazement! The route took the drivers over the scenic
Du Toits Kloof pass - it was a breath-taking site and sound for
both bystanders as well as passengers in the convoy going through
the pass.
The group was welcomed by Antoinette Steyn (Mayor of Breede Valley)
at the Opstal Estate in Slanghoek. The Mayor was aware that the
Last Lion Lifestyle team was coming through and she arranged to
bring 40 previously disadvantaged youth from her region to the
event to witness the display of cars.
As the team arrived, it was apparent by the expressions on the
faces of the youth that they couldn't believe their eyes and ears!
For many of these youth, the only interaction they have had with
supercars are the poster pics on their bedroom walls.
Once the cars were parked, owners had an opportunity to interact
with the youth in a relaxed, non-pressurized & welcoming environment.
Shani Naidoo, the MD of American Swiss & Sterns provided all
the ladies that attended the event with a gift from their recently
released Precious Pink CSI collection.
3 larger pieces of the Precious Pink collection was auctioned
by Danny Naidoo to the audience with the proceeds being donated
to the Reach & Help Foundation to continue doing the great
work with the youth in the various communities.
After the auction, the youth were provided with a stomach warming
meal courtesy of Last Lion Lifestyle & Velocity Cars. Maurice
Page aka Calvin Xavier from Isidingo was flown in by Velocity
Cars to give a talk and inspire the youth on the day.
Councillor Junaid Hoosain (DA) started the pilot project to connect
the Last Lion Lifestyle Supercar Owners with the Youth to create
awareness, motivation & develop an apprenticeship/internship
academy at the previous Last Lion Lifestyle event at Killarney
raceway and this was the 2nd phase.
The Last Lion Lifestyle crew will be going with councillor to
the Overstrand Region for their next event on 27 December 2015
to continue reaching out and inspiring the Youth to follow their
dreams.
It was a day that will always be cherished by the supercar owners
as well as the community that was visited. The organisers Ish
Kaskar & Junaid Hamid would like to thank the brand partners
Castrol, American Swiss/ Sterns & Velocity cars for their
assistance in creating such a memorable day for all.
