Naweed Bray’s B20 Ballade: I
could sit here and go on and on about how “less
is more” but honestly, that isn’t always the
case. When finding a car and it comes to the building
process, the course of the project can take forever! There’s
always the thought of researching parts, making careful
selections, etc. [more]

Killarney Race Track, Cape Town.
With plenty of WesBank Super Series events done and dusted
in the Raceweb archive from yester year, we decided to
mix things up a bit this time around by covering this
event in a little more detail rather than a “general”
whole. We focused more on one of our SpeedStars Ronald
Slamet, The Red Baron, on his S1000RR BMW superbike and
Team Afrox BMW. (Stay tuned for: A day in the life of
Team Afrox BMW coverage coming soon!) Keeping that in
mind we still managed to cover some awesome action from
one of the biggest events on the Cape Town racing calendar.
Found below are some of the highlights that myself, Nish
and Chevan snapped. You can find the rest of the gallery
What do you do you when someone asks you … “how’d
you like to go to SEMA this year?” My reply before
Raceweb Director Saleem Nadker could finish the sentence
was “when, how long and how much”. Then the
Racemaster tells you to write an article before you go
… Article? What’s to follow is more like the
rambling of a 3 year old who just got the new Batman Action
figure for his Birthday!!
you consider yourself a car enthusiast and have no idea
of what SEMA is, rather stop reading now as you won’t
“feel” the rest of this article.
We recently announced that Ronald Slamet aka The Red Baron
#68, a regional and national superbike racer, would be
flying the flag high as a Raceweb Speed Star ambassador.
The day indeed came on the 22nd of September 2012 at the
Cape Town leg of WesBank Super Series at Killarney race
track. It was an exciting buildup to the race as Ronald
is the first of many SpeedStar ambassadors. The plan was
to follow Ronald on race day to see what he goes through
and to show you, our readers, what happens behind the

Jive BMW M3 on the opening lap of the last race at the
September Wesbank SuperSeries at Killarney Raceway. The
car was recently acquired so it's still a work in progress.
You can see the way he has to fight the over steer out
of the corners. Makes for fun driving though...
Just hours ahead of the penultimate round of the Wesbank
super series, Killarney Raceway in Cape Town has begun
to welcome all the teams from around South Africa. Raceweb.co.za
was first to witness the arrival of Team Afrox BMW, Team
Pirtek and well as Team Mini Motorsport as they prepare
for the showdown that lie ahead for tomorrow’s day
of racing. [more]
Raceweb sat down with National Superbike racer, Janine
Mitchell aka Little Miss #79 recently and talked about
everything from the basics to the nitty gritty of racing.
She's been kicking up a storm around the country thrashing
the pants off most of the guys. Check out the video below
for some of the q&a's as well as her lap time around
Kenilworth Karting. Included in the video is her attempt
at getting a car sideways too! It's a must see! [more]
5 May 2012 saw some of the cape’s bravest exotic
drivers rip up the roads between Cape Town, Worcester
and Robertson on the Powerrun Series 1. The vehicles were
dressed by Wrapmaster Vinyl Technology whist teams enjoying
an amazing breakfast at the 5 star luxury Pepper Club
Hotel and Spa.
Spear headed by the insane Mark B of EIPSA`. He piloted
his Ferrari F430 Spyder and roped the likes Andre of Team
Los Lambos in their Lamborghini Merceilago, the Calvert
men definitely brought the heat with amazing Porsche 911
and the road eating Audi TT Ltd, who rattled the cage
of the Lexus ISF on the passes...[more]
kpgc10 or “Hakosuka” is one of THE most famous
Skylines to date. Its rich racing heritage and unique
looks make it a very special car even in today's times.
Its raw straight six naturally aspirated motor still gives
petrol heads goose bumps. While it is a rare sight in
South Africa, it might not be as rare on a smaller scale.
Fujimi Takahashi kpgc10 was built by Raees Amien. A model
builder from Cape Town that is indeed a petrol head but
particularly on a smaller scale. As he is a huge Japanese
car fan it was only right that he built one of these bad
boys but adding his own flair to make it a little more
unique. So what has he done? [more]
